Launched to coincide with the Paris 2024 Olympics, Samsung’s ‘Open Always Wins’ initiative aimed to empower athletes and fans by encouraging them to share their personal challenges and celebrate their resilience.
Agency BBH and Unit9 collaborated with Samsung to produce the ‘Openness Medal’ — a transparent glass medal engraved with bespoke typography from French designer and illustrator Jean André.
Team Galaxy stars, including Sky Brown (Skateboarding GB), Ugo Didier (Para-Swimming France), Heung-min Son (Football South Korea) and others, received ‘Openness Medals’ while sharing their journeys in a series of short films. The campaign sought to inspire younger audiences to embrace the challenges experienced as part of the path to success.
The films were produced by BBH’s Black Sheep Studio. CG medal visualisations and interstitial animations were crafted by Brez and woven into the athlete’s stories.
